I am transferring a folder with about 250 gigs of media to an external hard drive. Every time i conduct the transfer eventually it stops displaying an error message. It will say “This file has too many characters or unrecognizable characters.” I dont understand what the problem is. I need to get this stuff transferred fast. Is there a quick fix for this?

    Thanks
    Jamin

Is the hard drive formatted as a Mac drive? If there’s nothing on it I suggest re-formatting it with Disc Utility as a Mac OS Extended format. (Journaling “On” unless this drive is going to be a scratch disc for a video or motion graphics application.)

Hopefully that will do the trick. Let us know if it doesn’t.
