  • Transferring Final Cut Pro clips to Avid

    Hi,

we are a Final Cut Pro shop trying to provide some DVCPro HD footage (shot at 24p) to an Avid Editor. They would like for us to digitize the footage onto our system (G5 running FCP 6 with Kona LHe for i/o or firewire for i/o) in an HD codec, then copy the files over to a firewire drive that they can take back and import into their Avid.

We tried digitizing the footage with the DVCPro HD codec DIRECTLY to their firewire drive, but the Avid did not recognize the clips.

Do we need to recompress all our clips to another format? What would be the best format for Avid???

If anyone has a workflow for this situation we’d sure appreciate the info.

    Thanks!

You can try download the Avid Codec LE package at https://www.avid.com/onlineSupport/supportcontent.asp?productID=0&contentID=3555 and then rendering your footage out as an mov with the Avid DV100 codec. That should import into your Avid system without any problems.

Are they on a PC Avid? The DVCPROHD Codec won’t go cross platform.

It’s a Mac Avid system. She said the audio came through on the clips, but no video…

She’s missing the right codec. What does she see when she opens it in QT player and does a get info?

I Captured HDV Material using Final Cut Pro on Mac OCX system and the outcome looks OK
I transferred the Clip to PC and used Quick Time Pro or Avid Express Pro HD program..
Unable to view the clip however the sound was working.
Previously the Video and Audio was working fine on the PC platform using captured file from the PC environment with HDV format
Do I need to load any special Coding in order to view the clip that was transferred from the Mac?
