Transferring a project to another computer for editing FCPX 10.1.2
I have been unsuccessful transferring all my projects from my old iMac (running Lion and FCPX 10.0.9) to my new iMac (running Maverick and FCPX 10.1.2). The migration was a DISASTER and even Apple couldn’t help me out of it. Since the majority of my stuff remains on my old computer, I’d like to edit new sequences on the new iMac for faster editing, then transfer this over to my older iMac where the bulk of my project exists, but I can’t figure out how. I have plugged in an external hard drive and am ready to transfer, but all the info I read refers to the older process that I don’t think pertains to FCPX 10.1.2. Can anyone help?

There is a big difference in Project and Event structure moving form 10.0 to 10.1.
You will need to update your Projects and Events once everything is transferred.

Without 10.1 on the older iMac, the projects will of course be useless.
And I’ve personally never had a migration go wrong on me using a TimeMachine backup and the Migration Assistant. I’ve actually been amazed at how easy and well it has gone every time.
