  Transfer modes ?

  I have a project the I took white graphic & applied an Overlay transfer mode on it. The first part of the footage has dark red & it works great the transfer mode. But the second part of the footage that this grfx has to go over is dark mostly black. Of course Overlay transfer doesn’t work. I’ve tried all the other transfer modes they just don’t do what I want. Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can achieve an Overlay transfer effect on a dark background?
