    Greetings,

I have never had the pleasure of transcoding Red files.

But first let me tell you my problem.

I just recieved footage where about 90% of has _M files at 968×540 which is what I a set my final cut timeline at.

the other %10 has _M files at 1024×576.

How do I transcode the 1024 files workd on my 968 timeline???

    Much thanks in advance,

    Paul

Don’t use the proxy files. They can be handy for playing rushes in quicktime but are not the best files for editing. Either use Log & Transfer to convert the r3d files with one of the software tools that RED provide like Red Rushes or Red CineX. Most people convert to ProRes422 for frame sizes up to 1920 x 1080 and ProRes HQ for 2K frame sizes.

Recommended RED workflows (white paper pdfs) for FCP are available from the RED site where you also download the latest RED plugins and software for FCP and Color. Lots of study required BEFORE shooting and editing. Searching the COW will also reveal.
