im using vegas and need to set – flexible – chapter points in encore, so my understanding is i have to render a non-compliant file and use “Transcoding in Encore” in order to set those chapter markers where i want.

is there some format that would be best for this?

i am hoping i can come up with a workflow that lets me

    1. render once from vegas

    2. set chapter markers in encore

    3. transcode / build in encore in for flash – dvd – bluray.

    avi? h264? mpeg?

    Hi Bob,

From Vegas, Export to the “H.264 for Blu-ray” format, should result in .m4v and .wav audio files that you can then Import into Encore. Add your chapter markers, and create menus. Burn the Blu-ray disc.

Encore will allow you to switch the project format – just change to DVD and you can use the same project with chapters/menus intact. The Blu-ray files will be transcoded to DVD.

I’ve not done a Flash output, but you ought to be able to do that as well from the same original Blu-ray project. Maybe you want to use “Save as” from the Blu-ray job to create copies to work with for DVD and Flash output.
