transcoding flipcam HD footage into FCP7
Hi,
I have fotage shot on an HD flip camera: .mp4 file extension, AVC coding, 1280×720, 50fps, 44.1khz
I want to know what i should transcode to on FCP7. apple prores 422? should i scale up or down or is my frame size ok? also is 50fps ok or ought i change that?

Yes. Use Compressor, and while you are at it, convert the audio to PCM audio, 48k. 44.1 K will quickly lose sync in FCP 7.

No…the frame size and rate are correct. 720p is an HD standard, and 50fps is the standard frame rate for 720p HD in PAL land. All is good there.

OK great thanks. I haven’t used compressor before, I usually use MPEG Streamclip, but looking at it, Compressor is probably much easier and is already integrated with FCP7, so i might as well use that instead. BTW, How is prores 422 proxy different from just standard proress 422? I imagine i should just use the standard non-proxy one?
