    Hi:

    I am trying to track the mask of a layer that have its color changed over the same layer with its original color in order to change just a portion of the original layer.
    I do this lots of times in Avid Shymphony but I can

    Use the masked layer as a matte on top of the actual layer. Mask points themselves cannot be natively tracked in AE. you need scripts or other workarounds for that. One can be found here:

    Mylenium how would you apply tracking data to a mask? Your saying create the mask then make it a matte? Can you apply motrack data to mattes? I never really understood the diff between masks and mattes
