Tracking an overlay write on behavior
I have to do a little video segment on geometry.
I have footage of a simple 10 second left to right dolly shot tracking past a piece of sculpture. A piece of that sculpture is a simple rectangle. I have to create an overlay of a drawn rectangle over the sculpture rectangle illustrating the geometry.
I understand how to do the animated rectangle with the write on behavior drawing on over the course of the dolly shot….but what I need some help with is how to make that “written on” behavior track with the sculpture rectangle as the camera dollies by.
I know there are different ways to do it but what is the simplest way to animate the write on layer rectangle so it tracks precisely with the sculpture rectangle in the base footage?

Hi Mike,
It would be great if you could upload the footage of the sculpture so that we know exactly what you’re dealing with, but off the top of my head, a 4-point corner-pinning track using the corners of the rectangle on the sculpture would be a good place to start.
