    Hi,
This is the first time I have used track mattes so not sure on how to proceed. I have a piece of video with a solid layer of red above and on top of this a paint brush stroke graphic. I have turned the solid layer into a track matte – alpha inverted matte so the end result is an animated paint brush stroke that reveals the video. The problem is I need there to be 3 to 4 brush strokes however I have tried duplicating the paint graphic but to no avail. Hence this is not the correct way. Can someone point me in the right direction.

    cheers
    Steph

One matte layer can only affect one footage layer directly below. If I understand you, there are two ways to handle this:

    a) Duplicate the underlying footage layer three more times and move it up so you have four stroke (matte) layers and four footage layers acting in four pairs.
    b) select the four stroke layers, then layer>precompose. This groups the four stroke layers into one comp, which remains in the main comp. You then use this as the matte layer.

    I’d use b.
