Top Quality for HD footage on DVDs

Are you trying to burn your DVD for TV or computer viewing?

If it’s for TV viewing, are you judging the quality of your image on a TV or a computer screen. It will not look crisp on a computer screen, especially if you play the DVD in full screen.

If you want to use it for computer viewing only, you can burn H.264 files to a DVD in DVDSP. Use Compressor to encode the file. You can encode to an HD resolution if you’d like. Then bring that file into DVDSP and author as you would with MPEG files, although I think you’ll have to change some settings in DVDSP Preferences. Have a quick look at the manual.

The downside to authoring H.264 to a DVD is that it will only play on computer that support that codec. It should work in a Mac, I’ve done it before. Not sure about PCs though. The benefit is that the image looks amazing.

you might be missing one.

go into the compressor preset you used.

set the resize filter quality to best.

that should make a difference.

Not if you want it to play back in a DVD player. Usually max bit rate should be around 7.5 mbps, min around 6.5. Once you start going higher than that dvd players will start to get angry.

Yes, because I always make sure to run all the monetary logistics of my projects by Dave LaRonde and he would know the masses and masses of cash I’m piling up over here.

In conclusion, we return to the old saying: if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all, UNLESS of course you’re going to make a good point while doing so and it doesn’t matter how sarcastically you deliver it because you’re not a real person in essence, just a bunch symbols on a screen.
