Tool for predicting the sun
I have a palm pilot program that plots the path of the sun, and I would like to measure where the sun will be at any point. I am interesting in purchasing a tool that is essentially a sextant and a compass. Does anyone have any experience with a tool that is well suited for cinematography, or recommend specific tools for accomplishing this task?

I like to use a pair of dark sun glasses and a watch.

I think what you may be looking for is, or was, the Sundicator. Sadly, the product seems to have passed away with it’s creator, Thomas Spencer.
I’ve still got mine and wouldn’t part with it. You might be able to find one somewhere; snatch it up if you do!

Looks interesting.
We also use the LightTrac app a lot. It shows the angle of the sun superimposed on a Google Map for any date/time and location. Can’t remember exactly, but it was either free, or just a buck or two. It’s excellent.
