titles get stretched in PAL to NTSC conversion
I’m having a weird problem when trying to convert some PAL DV source material into NTSC MPEG2.
I’ve got some “lower third” titles on my timeline, and when I export to Compressor and do a PAL MPEG2 conversion it works fine. But when I try to do a NTSC MPEG2 conversion (or any NTSC coversion for that matter), it correctly resises the video, but the titles are stretched!
Any ideas? My only solution would be to redo all my titles in Photoshop rather then using the “lower third” option in FCP because it doesn’t resize correctly …
I’ve also tried to master out to a self-contained PAL DV files so that the lower third titles are flattened into the video, but when I convert these clips into NTSC MPEG2 they look horrible – very pixelated with lots of artifacts…
(By the way, anyone know why compressor makes NTSC MPEG2 files at 640×480 res rather then 720×480?)
