Posted by Gabriele Gismondi on October 24, 2010 at 9:39 amHi friends,
i’ve been asked to put all titles in the project at “146 x 508 px” position..but i’m wondering how..in the sample image my client sent me it’s all down-left positioned (as usual for titles) but inserting these coordinates in the control or motion title’s tab i cannot get there..some tricks?Bret Williams replied 15 years, 6 months ago 4 Members · 5 Replies -

October 24, 2010 at 10:28 amHi Gabriele,
That info is not enough.
The titles may be aligned “Right” “Center” or “Left”.
The position you have will be OK for one of those options, but no for the two others.

the title must be left positioned..still don’t get the point..in a 1920×1080 frame, the title jumps far away from the coordinates.. -

Left positioned is not the same than “left aligned”.
Alignment is a property (?) of the text and changing this you will change the position of the text, whatever the “center” (Motion tab) or “origin” (text generator).
Play with the three alignment option.

October 24, 2010 at 7:01 pmYour client is asking for the title to be 146 px from the left, and 508 px from the top most likely. Clarify what they mean. Because in FCP the motion tab determines the center of the object from the center of the frame. Completely different from most photoshop type apps that default to the upper left being 0,0. FCP 0,0 is the middle.
What you need is a guide made in photoshop. A vertical line 146 px from the left, and a horizontal line 508 from the top. Then just move your title into position visually.
