  • Title Fill (matte fill?) not working correctly – Bottom of frame showing through

I’ve got an odd problem. Using CS 6.0.2 on Windows 7 64 bit. I have a simple video of a talking head. I added a set of default titles to overlay the video. Goal is to have white text with a BLACK background blocking the video, display the text, then go back to the video at the end of the text clip (on Video track 2). Simple right? I’ve done it before with no problem. I simply create a title, like I always do, but instead of it being transparent, I choose FILL and the color BLACK. It *looks* like it’s working, but when I render it I get the problem you see on the Vimeo Link below.

This time, when it renders, I get what looks like the bottom of the title framed improperly, and the video showing at the bottom of the frame for a small bit. This *appears* to only happen when viewing on Vimeo using Chrome. I was unable to duplicate the problem with IE.

I can’t seem to do a screen capture of this, for reasons that allude me. I normally can always do a snippet from the tool that comes with Windows. This also doesnt’ show up with a desktop monitor.

A short clip demonstrating it is here; If you have Chrome, please see if you can view the problem.

Is this a clear enough explanation? Has anyone seen this before?

I watched the sample several times and see no issue. Are you using the Rectangle tool to make the background? Just drag it out larger than the screen, and set FILL to Black. Not sure how you were creating the black background before

I was afraid to post having to say i did not see an issue.
Not quite sure what you want to achieve.

It’s a very interesting problem. I’m in a car dealership waiting on a repair, using my Macbook Pro running Safari, and I don’t see it. When I posted it up on the web, using my desktop with Chrome, it most definitely was visible. I’ll have to check when I get back home. This has been a highly unusual situation. I’ll try and get a screen capture of it. Thanks for checking…

As to how I did this matte. I used a standard title, and used the ‘fill’ command to fill it. It shows that the size of the title is 1920×1080 so I assumed that the fill was filling that space. And it seemed to when I was editing the footage. When I rendered it was when I saw the issue of it not filling to the bottom of the screen, because the video was behind it. I worked around the issue by simply trimming the video behind it, but wanted to see if there was a bug happening that people might know about.

More to follow as I actually get something you all can see of this ghost (G). Halloween approaches!

Try creating a color matte, a black video clip, put that on top the video. Then title on that.
