  • Title designer typing problem.

Posted by Tony Cook on July 13, 2009 at 7:05 pm

I’ve been using the Title creator on Premiere Pro CS4 for a while now, and it works as it should. However recently it’s gone strange. Either going to New Title to do just that, or clicking on an existing title in the timeline to modify it, results in the text (to type) and arrow (to drag) boxes on the left hand side not being present. Instead theres just a small grey and white chequered box. The main screen on which you type is just grey and not displaying where the pointer is on the timeline (as it normally does to reveal what you’re typing over). The display on my TV monitor attached thru the Matrox RT.X2 to the PC, shows either a picture of just chequered grey and white , or sometimes a combination of this and black background.

The problem’s only occured in the last couple of weeks. Never had it before.
Anyone understand how I can get back to doing titles as I always have? It mystifies me. Your help would be greatly appreaciated.

    Thanks!

I am not sure if it is the Matrox card or not. Maybe you installed some software on your system recently that has caused problems.

I just use a cheap DV converter. I want to get a Deckling Intensity Pro ASAP.

It sounds like it could be something as straightforward as a corrupt preferences file…can you try starting PPro with the shift key held down? I think that still clears the prefs…

(you may have to reset some transition default durations, etc after you do this…)

Hi! Thanks for the responses. Somebody else told me to go to Window>Workspace, and then choosing reset workspace. I found that works whenever title designer plays up.

Thanks to all for your suggestions!
