I want to have a title (actually, the letters) ignite into flames, in a similar way as if you lit gas on the street, or put a match in a bbq after squirting some lighter fluid on self igniting coals. and at the same time I want the letters of the title to begin to char. maybe some smoke coming off of it……then fall off screen (probably shatter plugin.)

I have some nice footage of flames on a black BG, and i know this might be done with modes, and disp. maps, and stuff like that, but i really im not good too good at figurin them out on my own.

I have the particular, pyro technics, and that has a text on fire file, but the fire isnt as real looking, and i want it to animate from the bottom of the letters, startin either in the middle of the title, or the left or right, and then like a chain reaction, ignite the subsequent letters, before falling off…

    Any ideas?

u might want to look into a 3d particle system from maya or lightwave (or some other 3d package). u could also do it by physically building text against a black black and lighting it on fire if a software solution doesn’t give u acceptable results.
