  • Title 3D weirdness – Titles evaporating | leading changes…

We are having sudden trouble with the Boris Title 3D function…on two systems, both running 4.5.

I have trashed FCP prefs and Title 3D prefs and that hasn’t helpedd. Re-installed Calligraphy and
that didn’t help (is 1.1 really the current version for FCP4.5?)

In terms of what’s happening; cut and paste a title from one timeline to another and the title
dissapears. It shows info in the motion tab, but there is no text. Leading is also, inexplicably,
    changing.

Occassionally I’m getting a warning that “this version of Title 3D is not compatible with your system,” though
nothing has really changed, other than an OS bump to the next point release. Couuld that be related?

Stumped at this end, and wasting lots of time redoing titles…

Thanks for any advice or help.

    Ron

Yes,I’ve seen the leading changes, but not for awhile, it could be a 4.5 thing. I am now using 10.4.6 and FCP 5.1, and it seems to be OK. But Boris Title 3D seems to be the one thing that flakes out, no matter what version! I have had to close the title 3D window by hitting Apple+W when the mouse freezes in 5.04. Now in 5.1 title 3D crashes occasionally…and it seems that Title 3D is the only thing that makes FCP 5.1 crash.

Another “feature” of 5.1 on Intel is that you loose plug-ins written in Adobe AE format, previously supported. This includes many great FCP filters.

So it’s time for someone to write a title filter in Apple’s plug-in format. (And I’m still waiting for the ADO/A57 DVE…come on guys! We can still beat Avid to it!)

    Joe –

Thanks. We are aiming at a total upgrade in the near future, but that doesn’t help me right now 🙂

It has always amazed me how titling software has, going back years now, always lagged behind
the editing apps. I wish Adobe had decided to jump into this world, considering that they pretty
much own the market with PS and Illustrator.
