    hey there,

for some reason title 3d is not giving me sharp chrisp text any longer. It is sharp in the viewer but heavily artifacted in both the canvas and more importantly on my broadcast monitor.

I use this tool nearly everyday with great clean results, but today it looks awful, i dont think im doing anything different to normal.

    any ideas?

Try shifting it up one pixel. Or is it down one pixel? Try both. I recall people saying that made a difference, because of the field dominance settings…

    thanks shane,

unfortunately that’s not making much difference. what i am totally puzzled about is that i have never had artifact issues with title 3d before and now without doing anything different than before my text looks like it was created in a dv timeline with all the associated jagged edges.

    im confused

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

    Next:
THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”

Click the following link for instructions.

    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/trashing_fcp_prefs.html

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCPro & FCExpress.

Download these free Apple Scripts at

    here is something very odd.

when i change the sequence codec to apple 8-bit all the jaggies dissapear – stranger still when i continue in a cinewave YUV sequence and turn the image and wireframe on the jaggies dissapear – when i turn image and wireframe off, the jaggies come back!!!

any ideas on whats going on there?

Sounds like a job for: “TRASH the Preferences”.

    paul

I have been having this exact problem with titles in FCP5. Did you find a solution? I’ve trashed the prefs as recommended but it didn’t do anything for me

    Hope you can reply
