Tinny sound recorded on Tascam – think I accidentally recorded on MS-Mode?
Hi there!
I’m editing with some audio I recorded on a shoot and have a definite ‘tinny’ ‘robotic’ sound whene ver the talent talks in a kind of low tone. I’m hoping that there is a way to fix this, or at least find out what is wrong with it. I recorded on a Tascam 60D and it sounded fine when I was listening to the audio on the day. It is only in playback that parts of it sound strange. From prior reading I have a strange feeling that perhaps I recorded in MS-Mode (mid-side mode)? However I have no idea what this means!
Any thoughts?

With no sample to hear, we would just be guessing. But my first advice would be to go back and check the original, and then check your mix, and then your playback arrangement. Listen to just one channel and just the other channel (without attempting to mix them together) at each point along the chain.

If it’s ms then what are your pans doing now.
