Has anyone else experienced headaches opening up old projects that used Tinderbox 1 or 2, after having upgraded to the new versions (2.1 I think) to run in AE7?

It seems that filters which used to be called something like T_LensBlur are now called T_LensBlur_2.1, meaning AE thinks the effect is “missing” because it doesn’t have the same name. This has also happened to me in the past using ReelSmart Motion Blur.

I can’t just add the plugin again with the same settings, because I can’t see the original settings – when AE says an effect is missing, you can’t see it’s parameters any more. Seems my only option is to dig out and old copy of after effects and and old copy of the plugin, and install them both.

I would have thought a company like the Foundry would be smarter than this… or is it just me that’s having this problem?

You can try a global find and replace using a text editor on A COPY of your .aep file.

I’ve had some succes with this in the past, provided the updated filter doesn’t use different/more/renamed parameter,s and only it’s name has changed.
