Editing on FCP5.1.2, on SD. Due to the huge amount of raw material I’ve had to capture I’v elected to offline/online, initially using Blackmagic PAL JPEG capture. The material actually looks great – perfect for basic editing – and the clips all play beautifully in the viewer. But once on the timeline they play OK for 30 sec or so then there’s a video freeze for around a second (although the audio keeps playing flawlessly). Then the video catches up with the audio.

Also the playback from the timeline/canvas is slightly brighter than from the viewer. I’ve tried changing various sequence preset settings, but can’t pin the problem down. Probably something stupid I’m doing – but any ideas? Thanks.

Good old G-RAID. They work flawlessly with 8 bit uncompressed SD from my Digi deck, so I would have thought they could handle 3mb/s. As I say, the video plays without a problem from the browser, so I don’t reckon it’s a question of slow drives. I suspect it’s a Sequence Preset issue…

it’s a pain, but 1 solution could be to export a quicktime files same as source and reimport that clip for output. If you have to many cuts/renders and your drives are not fast enough to access your clips – this will work as a temp solution.
