    Dear Forum,

My project is an 8 minute film in SD DV PAL. I am using a Macbook Pro with a G-Tech Raid drive.

I am starting to get increasing RT playback hang ups- i.e. it stops playing the timeline and I have to restart the playback.

Is there a strategy for decreasing this occurrence? I didn’t have it at all at the start of the editing process- it is getting progressively worse.

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew Parker

    Hi Andrew,
in a case like that I would start by running DiskWarrior (or TechTools,..) and rebuilding the directories of all the HDs, starting by the system.
I would check as well the raid performance with the AJA tool.
    cheers,

    Thanks for the reply Rafael

I am a little concerned that this is quite a major procedure half way through a project- and possibly risky- in that it could lead to further issues.

    Am I being over-cautious?

A gradually worsening playback performance could be bad news as well.

What is the AJA tool for checking RAID performance? I don’t have an AJA box.

    Thanks again

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
No problem to run Diskwarrior in the middle of any project.
I run it every week whatever the job I’m doing.
You can download the AJA software from their web site. I guess comes with the KONA drivers.
