I am doing a project that has several names that will need to be displayed.
As I get more names, I am finding I need to re-adjust the timeline so that each piece of text gets displayed.Im looking for a way to take from the 10sec mark to 7 sec before the end of the comp to display the text.
I’d like to get the names from a text file and have AE calculate how long each piece of text will be displayed; based on the time (as above) / #number of names in the text file.Ex: Comp is 1:30 long.
– 10 sec at the beginning
-7 sec from the end
lets say 25 names in the text file.
so we would end up with 1:13 to evenly display 25 names.
If I add more names, the display time would be less.Is there anyway to achieve this in AE?

You have to use a script that reads that txt file and operates accordingly. Unfortunately, I couldn’t fully understand what your goal is; for this kind of things, it’s a good practice to make examples.
Furthermore, even if you did, I’m just starting at scripting, so I’m not too confident about working with external files. Try looking elsewhere on Google, searching for scripts for AE that already elaborate files and edit them or try to understand the technique.Leopy
