    Hi FCP friends,

I have a question about digitizing footage that was shot as a timelapse (1 second captured every 30 seconds) on a Sony PD150 DV cam. When I try and capture in final cut, it makes a new clip every single time the camera was paused between time lapse shots. Obviously I just want this to come in as all one long clip, instead of thousands of 1 sec clips. I’ve gone through preferences and settings and can’t figure out if there is a way around the issue.

Any thoughts would be really helpful in combatting my frustration with the 10 hours of timelapse footage that I have to deal with!

    Thanks,
    Holly 🙂

In log and capture, set capture settings to non-controllable device, hit play on the camera, and click capture now.

and be prepared to get results you were not expecting. You probably are hoping for fluid time compression and you cannot get that with bursts of motion video. You get speeded up video. The best video timelapse is shot as stills.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”
