timecode on external display frozen
Hi Guys
I really hope you can help me out coz I’m stumped.
I recently installed FCP HD on a Powerbook G4(OSX 10.3.9). Since then whenever I play a clip in FCP the timecode display on the external monitor is frozen at 00:00:00:00.
I also run FCP 3 on a G4 tower which does not have this problem, making me sure it’s a problem specific to this particular setup:
Powerbook connected to Sony DSR 11 recorder/player via Firewire 400.
Sony DSR 11 connected to external monitor via A/V out through phono leads to AV in on external monitor via USB connector.Is there a timecode display setting somewhere that I’m missing? Really hope you can help me out. Thanks very much.

Whilst FCP 3 puts out Sony-compatible timecode down the FireWire, apparantly, according to older threads here, this was disabled in FCP4+ so as to make the FireWire data stream more compatible with Panasonic record decks. Sony and Panasonic do things differently. Something like that.There is a workround to get specific timecode laid down on a record tape in a DSR-11, if that is what you are trying to do. Its been mentioned here several times.
