April 22, 2007 at 7:51 amI don’t know if this is Big Timecode or something new in 6.0, but here are a couple of pictures from the NAB rollout:

FWIW, where Avid excels is in its ability to have a window that displays the time codes of multiple video and/or audio layers at the timeline cursor. These all update in real time play.
And don’t flame me for mentioning a powerful Avid feature…

April 22, 2007 at 3:17 pmThose are marketing images rather than FCP screenshots. It is a powerful Avid feature but there’s no big timecode in FCP6 without BigTIme.

April 24, 2007 at 12:47 amIs it possible that type of timecode is an Avid trademark?

April 24, 2007 at 4:56 amNope. Lots of apps have floating big timecode displays including Soundtrack Pro 2.

April 24, 2007 at 9:55 amwow, i go away for a long weekend and you are all here helping when i get back! Good cow.
unfortunately you guys kind of reinforced that there isnt anything along the lines of what i am looking for. I use big time and its great, but it doesnt show source timecode. So if i have a selection of clips in the timeline, i have to pause to find out the source/tape timecode for the director. guess i will just have to get some big glasses and start actually communicating with the director. damn.
thanks guys
