I’m trying to Edit to Tape, but every time I start it off it shuttles straight past the in point and shoots off past the end of where I’ve striped the tape to.

    This is the setup:
    System – Eight-Core MacPro 3Ghz
    Software – FCP 6.0.2
Card – BM DeckLink HD Extreme

    Sequence: XDCAM EX material 1280×720 35Mbit HQ – 25fps
    Video Playback: Blackmagic HDTV 1080i (25Hz) 10bit
Device Control: Blackmagic HDTV 1080i 50
Deck: Panasonic AJ-HD1400 – Operating in DVCPRO HD 1080 50/25 mode.

The system reads the timecode from the tape correctly (whether in remote or local mode). I set 01:00:00:00 as the edit in point. If I drop the sequence on the Assemble button, it shuttles forward well past 01:00:00:00 off the end of the striped timecode at about 01:04:00:00.

If I hit ‘Go To In’ it rewinds to the head of tape (00:59:30:00) and then tells me the timecode doesn’t exist on the tape.

In Avid I’d assume this was a problem with the Deck Profile – namely that I had the wrong one selected, but as there is no such thing in FCP, only generic control settings, that isn’t a help here.

Your deck is shuttling/rewinding faster than the decklink can keep up.
Knock your Shuttle Max and FF/REW Max settings on the HD1400.

    Menu #101 – set to x8.4 or x16
    Menu#102 – set to X32 or X16
