Via firewire. You can capture from the Varicam via firewire, and n that signal is timecode information.

Are you talking about on set? While shooting?

I would look into a program called HDLog. It’s a logging program that you can use to log with timecode you have to buy an extra BNC to usb timecode reader. You take the tc out of the Varicam, and then you can log with HDLog. Then you can export out of HDLog through XML or text based “shot lists” to FCP. The trick is to find out if you can take that bnc to usb reader and plug it into FCP somehow. You’d need to find some sort of drivers for it but I’m sure it must come with some.

If you are talking about after the shoot, then the firewire workflow that Shane pointed out is tried and true.
