I’m posting this for a freind who is having trouble with his cow account. His dilemma is below.

We are looking at getting either the Sony HDV deck: M15U or M25U and have heard conflicting reports regarding time code from the HDV tape transferring with the footage.

The two “hearsay” are as follows.

#1 Using the Intensity Pro card, you can capture your media via HDMI which gives you more format options than firewire upon capturing, however, time code from the tape (i.e. 02:00:00;00) is not transfered with the media. Rather, new time code is assigned to the media (i.e. 00:00:00;00).

#2 Using the Intensity Pro card, you can capture your media (video/audio) via HDMI and have deck control and data transfer with the firewire cable hooked up at the same time. Meaning (i suppose) that your time code and all other data on the HDV tape will be reunited as in a magical fairy-tale upon arriving to Final Cut.

Can anyone confirm either one of these?

    best wishes
    Todd
