time warp distortion
I’m using time warp to ramp up the speed of a clip. For some reason, in addition to speeding up the clip, it kinda adds this weird liquefy effect.
It ended up looking cool, so I kept it. Anyone knows why it does this though?

it could be the pixel motion interpolation that timewarp uses to interpolate new frames got a little confused at some point and mushed up the interpolation (in a good way).
if you used footage that was in a codec that used temporal compression (hdv, mpeg-2, etc.) it may have contributed to the effect…
timewarp has some tuning settings to alter how it interpolates new frames using pixel motion that should help reduce, or possibly, amplify this effect.

The effect is actually applied to a pre-comp that has four squares of video playing. Imagine a four screen security monitor being sped up.
