Time stretching audio in Vegas causes +6db to +10db when using elastique.
So here is my issue.
If you grab a mastered audio cd track (16bit 44khz), which are normally mastered to peak at 0db and throw it on the timeline and play it, the db level meters will peak at 0db like normal (as long as your project is set to 16bit 44khz).
Now take that audio track and time stretch it a little bit, either faster or slower by holding control and dragging in or out. If you play the track now, the audio levels will be 6-10db higher!
Why does this happen? I am also a Sony Acid user and when I do this, it doesn’t happen. My work around is to either use Acid to timestretch first, lower the volume of the track, or go to the audio properties and change the pitch shift method to classic instead of the higher quality elastique method. I believe this is a bug, but would like to hear what other people think. I first noticed this in Vegas 8 pro when they brought the elastique pitch shift over, and still an issue in Vegas 10 pro.
