Okay – this is so basic I can’t believe I am submitting this post. None-the-less I’m creating a quicktime movie from an animation fly-thru of a new buildout. The animation goes into the new room and stops. Everything looks good so far. All I am doing is to use Time-Remap to reverse out of the room once you reach the end of the original animation. No big deal.

My problem is that despite cheking my settings and trying several tricks the motion is somewhat jerky in the reversed section. It’s not so bad that it probably won’t be an issue with the client, but it sure does bug me.

    Any tips or suggestions?
Original Movie = animation compressor, 30fps, millions of color
    Render Settings tried
    DV/NTSC, Best, Full, low fields
    Animation, Best, Full, low fields
    Animation, Best, Full, no fields

The final movie is being integrated into a feature in FCP 5.0.

Make sure that all the keyframes have linear temporal interpolation, and make sure that the speed between the last two keyframes is -100%, not -99.5 or something like that.

    That’s probably what’s happening.

If you do need to have a more variable timing, with eases and slowmo’s, you should either start from a quicktime with a higher FPS, or pref. use a plugin like Revision fx Twixtor to create additional frames.
You may get away with enabling frame-blending, which is the porr-mans version of twixtor, but I doubt it.
