  • Time Remap according to Camera Position

    Posted by Flakinde on September 13, 2007 at 2:20 pm

    Hi all, long time reader, first time poster.

    I am trying to build an expression in which a layer’s position relative to the camera controls the time remapping of that layer.

    By doing a search, I found this expression to simulate a fog through opacity:

    ====

    startFade = 500;

    endFade = 1250;

    d = position[2] – thisComp.layer(“Camera 2”).position[2];

    linear(d,startFade,endFade,100,0)

    ====

    I need exactly that, but applicable to Time Remapping. Any help?

    Thanks in advance.

    I think you just need to change the output range of linear() to something suitable for time remapping, like this:

    startFade = 500;
    endFade = 1250;
    timeStart = 0;
    timeEnd = 10;

    d = position[2] – thisComp.layer(“Camera 2”).position[2];
    linear(d,startFade,endFade,timeStart,timeEnd)

    Thanks Dan, I’ll try that now.

    One more question… is the time value input in frames, or in seconds?

    It’s in seconds.
