Time line copying versus nested veg files in SVP10

I have discovered a feature in Vegas Pro 10 that was not possible in version 9. I cannot see it in the Release Notes as a new feature, so I am not sure if it is a bug or an intended feature. I discovered that if I have two copies of Vegas Pro 10 open (different edits), I am able to drag and drop edits from the time line of project 1 to 2. Alternatively, I can select ‘copy’ in project 1 and then ‘paste’ it in project 2.
I see benefits in this in not having to always render out and being able to easily share edits between projects. If I a covering a long event, say a wedding, I typically edit my projects in chunks e.g. bride getting ready, service and reception. I recombine the edits in DVDA using playlists. Sometimes I need only a bit of project 1 and 2 for a 3rd project, say the highlights.
I know I could render out both projects to an intermediary file format and re-edit them in the third, or use nested vegs, but is there a technical reason why one should not drag and drop or copy between projects given that the Vegas interface now allows you to do so?

I cannot reproduce this. Once I start to drag in one copy of Vegas I cannot drop it into another.

You could always do this going back to Vegas 3. This is not new.

There’s no reason at all not to copy and paste between projects. I’ve done it many times. If I need the whole project I’ll nest it but sometimes I just need a few seconds and I’ll copy and paste.
You cannot do this with any other NLE and this is one of the reasons Vegas has such a powerful and productive workflow.
