    Hello,
I am new to this forum so thanks in advance for any help!

What I’m trying to do is stabilize camera motion in a time-lapse video. The motion is continuous long panning shots HOWEVER the pans are not horizontal, but mostly diagonal pans. The motion is slightly bumpy from frame to frame. I’d like to smooth out any bumps in the motion, while still maintaining the diagonal motion path of the camera. The motion tracker only allows stabilization in either the Y-axis (resulting in horizontal pans), which does not work for diagonal pans. I’m working with hi-res footage, so cropping is an option.

I’d like to get some advice on strategies for accomplishing this. I’m willing to figure this out using expressions, but I have a hunch there might be a much easier way. Any ideas?

    Thanks!
    Erik

    1. Stabilise the motion. This affects only archor point leaving position untouched.

    2. Recreate the motion lost in stabilisation process using position keyframes.

I’d simply attach a rotation tracker but I’m having a bit of trouble imagining your predicament. Time lapse sequences created from digital SLR still images may be more easily processed running through Photoshop with some form of script.

Yes. That exactly solved my question. I didn’t even think of trying that method. Thanks for the info everyone!
