Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Timcode Gaps

    Ahhhh.

Okay so a client of mine – He is a hunter, not a film maker. But he has been going out on his hunts and filming them all to compile to a DVD. The footage doesnt look to bad, but there are a few amateur problems.

One in particular is they record something, they go back and watch it after they record it. And they leave some big timecode gaps on the tape. Now each time final cut gets to a timecode cap, it stops capturing. But this happens every 3 or 4 minutes usually through the tape, so I have to keep sitting there, find the next place where footage starts and restart the capture.

Is there any way I can tell FCP to just keep going until it finds more footage, and just keeps on creating new clips.

    Thanks in advance.

Just hit capture now, and walk away. FCP will find the gap, backup about 4-5 times, jump the gap, increment the tape name, and continue. Painful to watch, but works.
