Tiger Technology is showcasing some hot new products at NAB 2013
As we start shipping Tbox worldwide, we’re also introducing some really new and exciting features at NAB. I therefore thought it would be good to share with those of you who won’t make it.
– Tbox is a scalable shared storage appliance that provides 1GbE, 10GbE, 8Gb FC and 16Gb connectivity. It was really designed with simplicity, performance and sophistication in mind. Setting up and maintaining Tbox is incredibly easy. We’re showcasing 4K dpx playback off 16Gb FC connection on the show floor. We’re also showing how easy it is to defrag and automatically expand your Tbox capacity without affecting anyone’s workflow. But perhaps the most exciting of all is the tiered storage approach that lets you use NAS, IBM LTFS LTO tapes or object-oriented storage for archiving. As you create content on Tbox, files can automatically be replicated to a lower tier of storage. When you run low of disk space on your primary Tbox storage, files that haven’t been used for a long time can be removed from the Tbox storage, and a stub remains. When you need to access these files, they are automatically retrieved from the replicated tier (either NAS, LTFS tapes, or WOS) and put back online. It is quite impressive to see how any user can retrieve an entire project – which has been moved to nearline – with a simple click, as if nothing had never been moved.
– projectStore PRO is a complete project and team management collaborative solution for Tbox that lets you create virtual volumes and decide who can access what. A proxy generator process any media you ingest, copy or render automatically so you can access all content over the web. Adobe, Avid and FCP projects are automatically parsed and the metadata they contain is linked to the media so you can use all project’s keywords to locate your clip quickly and efficiently. Producers, editors and director of photography can all access proxy content via the web to review the status of the project.
