August 1, 2011 at 8:34 pmWhat about the GUI interface problem (requiring a minimum size larger than most macbooks)?
Seems like a great solution for iMac’s though. I would certainly prefer a 27″ iMac with a 2nd video monitor than a tower these days…

If one was able to use external vid cards like the GTX285 or Quadro 4000 in a TB breakout box scenario as mentioned by the OP, would the AMD Radeon HD 6770M on the iMac 27″ be able to function with it? Not even sure if that card is Open CL or not…

August 2, 2011 at 6:11 amYeah, that would work..
Resolve does not care about your UI card that much.
But adding a nice 470/570 (the future, i know) into that external box would make it a CUDA power house.
And if you can cascade it with a little Raid, oh boy, oh boy 🙂A slice of color…

August 2, 2011 at 7:05 amIn that circumstance (TB breakout box) which might be a better card paired with an iMac, a GTX 285 or the newer Quadro 4000? It appears that Davinci indicates Resolve is still optimized for the older GTX285 rather than the newer card. However that card still needs 2 power connections.
