Thunderbolt 2 docks
Posted by Kevin Rag on April 18, 2016 at 5:19 amHi guys. Am about to purchase a TB dock for my 15″rMBP to connect a display and a TM drive, and to get the extra ports. Probably even a USB3 RAID for working with FCPX and PrPro.
AM torn between the OWC TB2 dock and the Caldigit TB station. Anyone using either of these products care to share their experience? Thanks in advance guys. Posted it here to get more traffic:DKannan Raghavan

April 18, 2016 at 4:47 pmI have an older Belkin TB1 dock, and the newer OWC2 dock. They both work swimmingly.
I don’t have any experience with the CalDigit dock, but I imagine it works well, too.

April 19, 2016 at 4:46 pmThanks a lot Jeremy, Eric.
I’ vet read reviews about the OWC unmounting after a while. Well, it’s not the case then. Another friend of mine vouches for it too:)
Will go for the OWC then , with all the USB 3 ports:)Kannan Raghavan

April 19, 2016 at 5:24 pmI load ours up with Resolve/Avid/ProTools dongles, REDMAG reader, daisy-chained Pegasus/GTECH and usb jump drives.
Now Ive never attached a display for it since were using old Cinema 30s via Geffen DUAL-DVI switchers.
I dont think Id ever attempt using a display on it. -

May 4, 2016 at 10:24 pmI bought the CalDigit two years ago with my 15″MBP, to run two displays and a LaCie 2Big RAID every day. Still works great. The biggest annoyance is probably only with the RAID… I can’t get it to eject easily like they said on the LaCie website. I have to Eject it onscreen first, then unplug. As for the CalDigit… great.

May 6, 2016 at 6:12 amThanks Dave. Am going to go ahead with the OWC for the extra USB 3 ports. With akeyboard, mouse, TimeMachine backup drive, carbon copy closer drive you use up a lot of ports.
