I’m editing something (1920×1080) that’s divided into three frames all equally split the entire way through (so, each frame would be 640×1080). I’ve done split-screens before (resize+crop), but because this video has many shots and all of them must be divided into thirds in the same spot, I wouldn’t be able to achieve the crop effect at precisely the 640 pixel divisions I need, unless I zoom to 1000% for every shot and move it pixel by pixel to a marker. Also, I didn’t shoot the footage into thirds, so I’ll be doing a lot of scaling and rotating which complicates things.

I can’t think of any way to do this efficiently. Using the crop effect would be time consuming and imprecise. Any ideas?

I would say After Effects, but you could also do that without cropping in Premiere.

    Why not use garbage mattes?
