I think Mike Kujbida answered my first question awhile back but I can’t find it in a search:

    (1) Whenever I open a project the timeline is really zoomed out and all my layers and elements are this little pile that I always have to zoom back into to start working. Is there a way to save a project such that the zoom amount stays the way I left it when I saved it?

    and

Someone else answered this next question originally, but they thought I was referring to audio (I’m referring to picture):

    (2) How do I change the default video fade type from “curved” to “linear”?

    and

    New question:

    (3) If I have a trimmed clip on the timeline, is there some kind of “properties” something-or-other I could look at afterward that tells me what trim adjustments have occurred on that clip? (Mike K: Something akin to “Clip Info” on Velocity)? I ask because sometimes I have to redo a corrupt clip, and I’d love to know the information about the original trim in/out points.

    THANKS as always,

    –Kelly

1). I don’t think you can set Vegas up to do that.
Two spins on my mouse wheel and I’m zoomed in as far as I need to so I don’t consider this to be an issue.

2). Pro 11 may have an option to do this but, from what I can see, Pro 10 doesn’t.
I even looked in the internal options menu but, as I’m not sure of the proper search term, I didn’t see anything.

3). View – Edit Details brings up a window with LOTS of information about an event.
I believe that “Time Code In” and “Time Code Out” are the ones you want.
The columns can be changed around so that frequently used ones are closer to the beginning.

    (1) But, bummer for us Wacom tablet users…

(2)One would think “linear” would be a universal default, but alas…

    (3) Okay, great, thanks!

I knew I had seen a post on it somewhere on here so I did a search (Nov. 28, 2007 to be precise).
Thanks to Edward Troxel, I now stand corrected on #1.

Vegas 8 added many new scripting commands. One of them will set the zoom level of the timeline. Since you know nothing about writing scripts, someone would need to write it for you.

    Try this one:
    https://www.jetdv.com/scripts/SetZoomLevel.cs

This will set the timeline to 1 minute 30 seconds long. In the middle is this line:
    Timecode zoomSize = new Timecode(“00:01:30:00”);

Change that timecode to be the length you want.

Put this script in the following folder (you may have to create it):

    {My Documents}Vegas Script Menu

Then, after starting Vegas, you should be able to assign that to any keypress you desire.
