I know some people experience thicker l’s or i’s if text is converted to outlines, but i didn’t convert my text to outline and when it came back from the printers all the l’s and i’s are noticeably thicker. It’s only a basic helvetica font as well, nothing fancy. Does anyone know how i can fix this? thanks

I’ve only seen thickened ‘i’ or ‘l’ in PDFs on screen, however I have seen all type appear heavier when outlined and printed – at least, in digital print.

It’s possible your printer may be using a different version of the same typeface, which could definitely cause unexpected results such as this, especially if any stroke or other effects are applied to the text.

Unless you expect your printer to make edits to your text, I’d create a text-outlined version of the file (myfile_ol.ai), and give that to your printer. It would eliminate the issue.
