June 11, 2012 at 5:49 pmNot in the keynote doesn’t mean not in the store… But not a good sign.

June 11, 2012 at 5:50 pm[Lance Bachelder] “they must be serious about FCPX?”
10 million FCPX downloads x $295 = nearly $3 billion dollars in the first year, around what they made in the first TWELVE years of Legacy. And I’m being conservative. Yeah, I think they’re serious.
And probably my last chance to say it before the other shoe drops: I’ve never wavered in saying that a new Mac Pro is coming. Even if he doesn’t announce it in the next few minutes. LOL

June 11, 2012 at 5:50 pmSteve Connor“Very, very nice, but where’s the new MacPro!”
Right? I’ve never owned or cut off a laptop so while the new MacBook Pro definitely looks hot, I’m much more interested in a new MacPro.

June 11, 2012 at 6:05 pmWe’re more than an hour into the keynote, and haven’t even gotten to iOS 6 yet.
Hopefully this will be an unusually long keynote with room for iOS 6 and then Mac Pros by the end. 😉

June 11, 2012 at 6:07 pmNo announcements, but I read a very reasonable conversation between some developers who’ve actually done it, about how many sales it takes to stay on top of the paid apps bestseller list. I made a back-of-the-envelope guess from there.
But it also fits with my general theory that Apple thought of FCP7 as — if not a failure, a profound disappointment. Apple isn’t in business to sell 2 million of anything over 12 years. That’s not a sustainable business in Apple-land.
Frankly, I doubt that it’s as little as 10 million, but I doubt we’ll ever know for sure. It’s certainly closer to the kinds of number Apple looks for from software — but even there, still short of Apple-like numbers for anything. They swing big and broad.
Related, I was going to say that this looks EXACTLY what a MacWorld keynote used to look like…but that makes sense, because (no insult intended) most Mac developers are developing for general audiences.
