Actually, it’s a new standard I am making myself. Just you wait, NTSC DV PAL is going to be all the rage in the worldwide broadcast community.

When you go to the edit to tape window, under the device settings tab, what is listed under deck control? FireWire basic?

Tried both; Firewire PAL and Firewire PAL Basic.
I learned that many years ago, as a Canon owner I’ve had trouble with that so I had to use Firewire PAL Basic.

It’s been a long while since I’ve used FireWire, but that warning seems to say that your deck is in the wrong mode.
Perhaps the camera is expecting 4channel 32k audio, when FCP is sending 2ch 48k.

I don’t think it’s that.
The Audio Mode has only one option 16 bit or 12 bit and it is and always been set to 16 bit.I know it has to be 48 kHz and don’t know where would changed it.
It must be something else, must be something about the source of the footage, the fact that is coming from P2 or something.No problems with footage sourced from tapes. Done it many many times before although not in 16:9
mode. -
What codec is your timeline?

Open the audio/video settings of your FCP prefs (option-command-q).
Look at the summary tab. Way down at the bottom for audio playback, does it say ‘default’? If so, try changing that to firewire DV.
