Hi. I am not sure which forum I should put this, but I put it here since many of FCP user might have the same experience…

I just installed a new card in PCIe-slot on G5. But the screw won’t get tight, keeps spinning. maybe the screw hole got loose… (and I dropped this screw inside G5 a couple of times… ! It took me an hour to pick this up! I used clip and my finger…, such a pain!)

I guess I just need to find a slightly larger screw, right? Or is it good idea to tape it with alminum tape (probably strong with heat) ?
Or maybe I can leave it like this? This card goes to eSATA Drive, so I don’t pull/connect the cables so often.

Does anyone have the same experience?

    Thank you for reading this.

Don’tcha hate it when that happens?

I really do like to keep things snugly screwed down, for obvious reasons. But I’ve had more than experience like this and I’ve had a couple of cards live out their lives successfully with just one screw holding them in place. As you indicated, the question of whether you’ll be plugging and unplugging directly into the card is important. If everything is working and you can keep from jiggling it too much I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ron, yes, I hate when these things happen!
But those are the moments when we can learn something new. Well, it’s all part of fun… isn’t it?

Anyway, we found the slightly bigger screw, which fits in tightly enough.

Lesson is: Don’t screw back too tight! Just screw back nice and straight.

    Thank you for your response!
