The quicktime movie clips I’m importing do not match the sequence settings of FCP

Will,

Open the QT file using QT Pro (you can probably just double click on it…)

Now, select File — Export.

Click on Options.

In Compression Type, change the settings to something other than h.264, such as Pro Res, DV, DV50 or whatever the rest of your material is…

Unclick the box Prepare for Internet streaming.

Now hit Save…

BTW, your file has audio at 44.1 khz, CP uses 48khz by default. THat should not be an issue, but what was the source of that original h.264 file???

Anyways, I think that’s what you’re asking.
I’m going to try your Export/options tip now and see if it works.

Hey David.

I couldn’t capture the footage from my camera to the mac because it kept saying time code break and it would glitch every couple minutes because of it… Anyways, I uploaded 12 hours worth of footage onto my dell and edited them very basically and saved them in 2-10 minute chunks as windows media files… Then I transferred the files to my mac so I could lay pictures over the video at certain points in time. I can play the wmv’s with the Flip4mac program, I downloaded. Anyways, the wmv’s would open in quicktime and I exported them to quicktime format and then they could be imported into FCP. But the audio was slightly out of sync.
Anyways, I tried your advice, I switched the compression type to DV-Pal and I unchecked the box marked prepare internet stream. And the problem with sync still persists.

Hi, and sorry to interupt this conversation. I’m having similar problems with the timeline/sequence settings. I’m new to fcp and don’t really selfshot footage. i just want to practice in the beginning with some movies i have, mostly (avi or divx).

i did everything you described, checked the file format to match the sequence settings, the only problem is, the format information doesn’t tell me about the compressor.

i post to screenshots to make it better understandable.

what should i put in the compressorfield? ‘none’ doesn’t work. this way it still renders everytime i make a cut or move the clip.
