I just tested today 4000 on first slot and 120 on third. So in theory it seems possible to have
2x 4000 + 120 on slower slot and all this in macpro.

For mee it seems great step before big array and expander if it works.
Lets say you put in new 4K card from BM.

One would have to use internal array then.

470 seems great idea but here was talk about it that this ma or may not work (red not all cores are supported).

I will try soon and report here about 470 in mac pro.
My 480 (alone) is twice as fast as gtx285+gt120 at mac pro.

How did u do the test to get the result that 480 is twice powered as 285+120?
Someone on reduser reported 480 is just the same speed as 285, due to the rumor “Half cuda core bug” on Mac.

Made a sequence which didn’t take too much cpu and needs a lot of gpu with corrections from 4 to 6 nodes with different things – blur, key, correction

Was hoping you push more like 4 blurs and 10 + nodes at least.

Dan gets 18 + nodes with 2x 285 what could be really good target for testing.
    More of that or less?

Single 480gtx with 2 monitors attached. i7 950 processor running at 3.8 ghz. 12GB RAM. Apple Prores444 2048×1152 quicktime. CUDA driver 3.2 (developers page). Decklinck – driver 8.

    I’ve made 21 nodes with blur=100

It gives 24-25 fps. 18 nodes gave 25 fps sustained.

If we only had that in macpro or i expander.

You can have it. Here it is:
    https://cgi.ebay.com/Nvidia-GeForce-GTX-480-Apple-Mac-Pro-FERMI-CUDA-/330546351025?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item4cf6190bb1#ht_1319wt_1141

this is reflashed PC card, it works in Mac Pro with Quadro OSX drivers, but needs external power

and this gtx470 will work with existing power supply in mac pro

P.S. Actually I didn’t test those cards, and can’t advertise or advise them, but I’m going to purchase and test gtx470.

wow …if anyone tested it on the mac pro …please let us know …

PS: big difference between 470 and 480 ?

    Thanks

In terms of productivity – no, 448 cuda cores against 480. But 480 produces so much heat and needs so much power – I wouldn’t recommend putting it inside mac pro – only hackintosh with at least 850W power supply and many-many additional airblowers or watercooler.
