Why make such a big deal about this supporting up to 3 4K displays if Apple isn’t going to make and sell some new displays. I really doubt Apple plans for you to attach these to the current Thunderbolt display. Since the new display will need TB2, it would keep you from plugging it into your older devices that couldn’t power it.

Steve, that’s a strong sign in the positive for this. I’m willing to bet the display ships at the same time as the new system.

    Ooh,

I could see my next edit bay with a new Pro, dual TB monitors around the 30″ target. – and an Apple TV (whatever it turns out to be) suspended above those as a high def “confidence of air quality” interlaced display

Do that kind of setup for $10k give or take and make the whole thing modest size and energy efficient and I’d be in heaven.

Bill, the new ASUS 4K monitor is about $4,000. So it would be sweet if Apple can bring that down to a number they like, such as $999.
