  • The Magic Stretch And Pitch Number: Converting 29.97 audio to 25fps

I’ve spent a few hours scouring the internet for a hard and fast % that works with the Stretch and Pitch process to convert audio from 29.97 to 25 with very little success.

So, I did some tinkering and found the number.

Now before the galaxy brains chime in with “audio doesn’t have a frame rate, it’s just sample rate,” I know – I understand. It’s just a helpful mental shortcut to refer to the audio by its paired video’s framerate.

So, if anyone needs to convert 29.97 footage to 25 for whatever reason, the number you put in for Stretch and Pitch is:

    119.88

The timing of the new audio will match the timing of the 25fps video and the pitch will remain the same… however, you will have to deal with speech that’s nearly 20% slower. If you want to avoid that, you’ll need your original recording to be in the frame rate you want to end up with.

    Cheers!

Im not sure but all you needed to do was conform to the framerate you wish.

I do this in AME at times.

AME does not adjust pitch automatically IIRC – it will conform length but pitch will change. No?
